The government really did do some wierd stuff, in 1975 President Ford ordered the CIA and the Army to stop human tests at Edgewood Arsenal, who was where in federal government in 1975?
Go to VA.gov and type in /vhi/docs/CBR_www.pdf and read about the Cold War tests in 1955 thru 1975, I am one of the 7120 men my number was 6778A.
DOD has said they can;t find these men until FY 2009 why the NAS/IOM found them twice in 1985 and again in 2000, men my age don't move.
Go to the VA House committee and click on the democrats page and then click on official correspondence scroll down and find and read two letters 28 April 2005 from Lane Evans to Secretary Nicholson and Sec Nicholson's reply on 5 November 2005.
Last question or food for thought who does not want this story told? Go back and look at the deck chairs at defense CIA and Chief of Staff the White House in 1975 you might get the answers.

Mike, did they also test Bio's at Edgewood? Did'nt the gov. sign an agreement in 1972 to stop delving into Bio's?
After knowing what I do now and knowing we as a country had done alot of Bio research up to 1972 and was in a war. I find it extremely hard to believe we did not use biologicals to some extent in Vietnam. Not that if we did it would ever surface after this many years. Its just that with all the illnesses and sickness to be had in the jungle it would have been so easy to try a bio and blame malaria or something else for the illness. Keith

no bios was done at Fort Detrick Edgewood did chemical weapons and drugs as far as I know LSD, PCP, mustard agents, Sarin etc Edgewood is a environmental disaster area they capped all the water wells in the base and the town and had to pipe in water from the outside after the EPA found the contamination in 1977. The Bulletin board SIPRI does research on Bio and Chemical weapons I am a member there maybe not after today lol

Dont mean to bust your bubble. How did you get involved in the Testing ? Where you told details of the testing and the possible side affects or anything? Did you volunteer for the testing? I dont mean to stir Shait up but just wonder about this stuff, I am just ill informed. I know they did testing but how was it done?

we were never told what they were really testing for, yes all of us volunteered for it, but the committe's that investigated and the IG all said that we were never told the real truth about the why, what they expected to happen, we were alll told that there was no possibility of any long term medical complications it was that safe. We all know differently know don't we? Time tells all tales. The truth does come out. The sad part is I would be like most veteerans if they had paid my claim would I still be doing thos? probably not, I really could find something else to do.
The CBR manual on the page 14 states that the test were Nazi like "Dachau experiemnts" and violated the Nuremburg Codes of 1947. DOD told Congress in March 2004 that they can not give the VA our names and addresses until FY 2009? why, like I have said the NAS/IOM found us twice in 1985 and again in 2000 for health studies, you know that Sarin study from March 2003, I am one of the men they contacted to get the data, I am one of the 4022 vets still alive. Yes, I volunteered just like the others, but we were never really told the truth and DOD will not come clean about us until 2009, convienent since this administartion leaves office that year isn't it?

GWmarine you can not bust my "bubble" I am not like the Beltway boys I am not imsulated, but it really should make Americans think about what we aren't being told that really is a secret. This stuff is all over the internet Lane Evans and Nicholsons letters are at the VA House Committee site on the corrspondence page, the CBR manual is online it's all right there in the open, the only thing that appears to still be classified about this is our names and addresses from DOD to the VA, again why? I am not making this up, this is worse than a bad B movie isn;t it?

GWMARINE-- I was stationed in Ft. Jackson when the CO came out to formation in the morning asking for volunteers for TDY duty in Maryland to test new military equipment that may used in the future. Never volunteer for anything!!!!!!!!! The results may be deadly. I look at my medical records and see that number 6566 and often wonder what the Jewish people went through in Nazi Germany. When in all reality we had Nazi Edgewood.

yea I know my shrink told me to quit watching the X files until a month later and he saw the inch thick file I recieved from Edgewood under a FOIA request, he about blew a load right in his office, he immigrated here in 1979 from Sri Lanka and I am the first "test vet" he had ever heard of and met. I still don't have him convinced they exposed soldiers and air force guys to nuclear detonations, but I'm working on it, I know everyone has heard the stories but no one has ever met anyone right? there are 2 of us here me and Class of 72 his name is larry small world huh I know where 7 are in total I love the internet, but most guys our age are not computer proficient, it's hard to teach old dogs new tricks

Testvet, get a copy of "beyond treason" for your shrink..I watched it for the first time last night and was utterly shocked as it is loaded with the history of military experimentation..
Thanks to Gale again for bringing this DVD to my attention, I knew it was out there and plain failed to get me a copy..excellent documentary. Thank you Gale, Joyce and everyone involved.

I wish I could I am not up to traveling that far, there is no way for me to make that trip, until the VA starts paying the 100% rate I can't afford a vehicle for my power chair, and I have about 100 yard walking limit, my idea of a trip is to the mailbox anymore and life goes on. Sparks I am not sure I could stand to watch it, A&E did a documentary a few years ago titled "Bad Trip to Edgewood" I got violenttly ill watching it, it took me back to 1974 and I can't stand the thought of watching that again ot anything like it, ask the people that were incarcerated in WW2 Germany and ask them if they want to watch a movie about it, I bet you see terror in their eyes if you watch, it's something you never forget, when you learn what is was all about, I can truthfully say I was happy in ignorance until Oct 2002 and I learned the truth of Edgewood, and the world I had always trusted crumbled, do you think I have any respect for the people in pwoer today, Daddy was head of the aplhabet agency, Cheney and rumsfeld were in government they had no problem continuing the tests until the IG report became pub;ic and Congress forced them to stop sounds like the NSA mess again doesn't it? some things just won't leave your head ever, until you die or lose the brain cells.....
Your story does sound like something out of X-Files. I'm sure the VA over these past few years have looked at you like "This Guy's NUTZ". Then when the truth came out I bet you still get that at the VA. Why would are government do such things? I have no clue. I heard during the 50's they dropped Biological chemical's on two or three big cites like Chicago, just to see what it would do to the citizens. If we only knew everything? Americans who have know clue would just freak out, most of this stuff comes out when the people affected are already dead or almost dead. This stuff needs to be told. Test have you ever been contacted by any TV News like 60 minutes or something? If so could you do it? Its sad that if you say anything bad about our government your looked at like your not a patriot. How many of those people served in the Military, not many I bet! Our Government needs to practice what it preaches and stop this fasiad of lies. How can we tell others how to be humane to others, when we do such horrific things to our people? Sure we dont execute people in the street like China, but we do it under the blanket of the Freedom & Democracy!

the worst thing is men that think they have to win, no matter what the cost, the end does not always justify the means used. I imagine the people that took over the "classified medical research" accepted as a necessary evil, that was already in place when they slid into their jobs, such as G H W Bush, Rumsfeld and Cheney in 1975, they did not stop the "tests" at Edgewood due to the wrong justification for doing it, and the fact they were knowingly violating the Nuremburg Codes of 1947, we had to beat the Russians, at all costs, so the program continued until the 1975 Da IG report made it's way to Capitol Hill and public outcry and Congress forced the Ford Admin to end the Human experiements. Not the men's hearts or conscensience, public knowledge was the deciding factors. Men who do things in secret, with good intentions, are sometimes wrong, and unfortunately people like myself and the other 7119 vets of Edgewood pay the price, you are right about the VA employees and they deal with a lot of strange issues, navy tests, Special Forces classified projects etc, knowing what I know now, I just wonder what our govt is doing that they don't tell us about, I wonder now what really is in Area 51? scary huh? Just tell the truth, and as they say the truth shall set you free, and the truth can be stranger than fiction.......
