Hey folks lately I have been having this sensation of vertigo? For example if I drive fatigued suddenly it is like the lines come up the road and seem to "float" at me - and then a kind of tunnel vission experience takes place.

This feeling also happens if I happen to be somewhere and people are walking around me in various directions at one time. It is as if my brain is stimulated by perpherial vision - and suddenly the ground feels like it is zooming up and I have a moment of being disorientated in space and time.

This is scary, but passes in seconds.
I am on Ritalin for my cognitive issues and it seems maybe the increase in this might be related. I have to be on the Ritalin now to function.

I have not passed out. Although it seems to be threatening. I have also had a lot of nasuea waking me at night with the room spinning sensation.

Anyone have any idea what is going on?
I've been sick since my deployment in 2003, and I do have my concerns about the future.

I have similar issues and have had them for a long time. Any shooting pain in your head or temporal lobe headaches? A good dose of medical O2 helps me a lot!! Cluster headaches is what I have only because they ruled out seizure disorder.

I have yet to be disoriented while driving. I have had issues of extreme headaches though when playing video games on internet. Certain graphics tend to cause bad headaches and pain in me. I don't have eplisepy and no one in my immediate or extended family has it either.

Before I got ill with all my medical problems I used get migrane headaches with tunnel vision often. Since end 2001 start 2002, which started the chronic pain, sleeping issues, and rash and more, I have maybe 3 migranes (which used hit often every 3 to 4 months or less). I often joke, but truthfully, that I would trade the migranes back for getting rid of the rest of my problems. The tunnel vision you describe is sorta like what I get when I get migranes I get this merging of my fields of vision like I had one cyclops eye instead of 2 normals eyes. The vision further degrades into jigsaws after that along with intense pain. If I take some kind headache medicine for it and knock myself out I am ok. Side note: when I suffer from my chronic pain tylenol etc does not work for me. I am not supposed to take asprin but if I am off somewhere and get migrane ( which is rare now days) I do take it.
Might try see if one the new migrane medicines on the market helps you endure. I posted some my information hoping it helps you somehow.

Just remebered I did have one major issue of vertigo when I was trying a new major skin antiobiotic a few years ago. Nearly passed out from it after walking a few yards. I figured out it was the clindomycin phosphate after elminating my medicines one by one.

Sorry about all the edits to the post sometimes I get stupid memory blocks and don't remember something till later. Makes for crappy mood in me when I used have an excellent memory.

One other vision problem I had was involving contact lenses and my eyes. A few months after it happened, and I had been scoffed at by the doctors at the local VA, I found out that the contact solution I had been using had cause 12 to 24 other people to have similar problems due to an infection in the soloution. What really pissed me off about this was that the VA kept insisting that it was the contact lenses scratched my eyeball when in fact it was the damn soloution was not properly sterilized that caused the issue. I made note of it and moved on doesn't really apply in this case just thought I should cover what had happened while I can still remember stuff.

Thanks guys! Ice pick headaches! Yes, and more recently.

I told my VA Doc. I had an old guy who also believed in chinese medicine. He fiddled around and pressed a few "trigger spots" and I responded with extreme pain - he would push on sites on my hand and elbow and the back of my head and jaw would ache.

This same Doc had advised accupuncture before and I tried it and got into big ER trouble. I told him this and he told me to try again - but find someone that did not use needles.

I have not had time to do this as I just relocated. But there is merit to some of this stuff I can say this from personal experience.

I also wondered about the Ritalin, which I take and need now. But there is something to playing with nerve endings and inflamation issues. And I believe if you find the right, well educated health provider (alternative or mainstream) there is a measure help for us.

I so relate about the contact story too, and the eliminating to find a cause. Sometimes we get so overwhelmed with all the crap with this "sydrome" that an issue that is just an odd occurance can cloud the situation.

For example, I drank a ton of cinnamon tea this past winter and was suffering mouth sores, one of my Doctors wanted to run lupus tests again - then I relized it was the tea by accident browsing online.

It is a bummer, but we can't take meds, or herbs, or eat they way we used to, without stopping to think, hey is this stuff causing this issue? . . . It is one big tricky bit of business to get it figured out:

The best formula of spiritual, medical, herbal, dietary methods to bring together and eeek out some kind of quality to our lives. This place is helpful in that regard.

Thanks for the feed back guys.

Hello all I wanted to know if anyone heard of the Hand and Arm Syndrome it is a service connection that comes from vibration in the hands and your fingers goes numb. I wanted to know if anyone filed a claim for it because I know there are a lot of veterans who had driven APC'S TANKS etc. that causes vibrations if there is any news please let me know.

Not very strong with this area but I do have a hand injury so will pass on what little I do know.

For research on that subject try looking repetive strain injuries they fall into similar category. Try research RSD aka complex pain syndrome etc. There is testing that can be done that invovles sending electrical signals through a persons arms to measure for nerve damage. I have undergone it before one time it was easy and pleasant and another time it caused incredible pain in my neck.
I was never in a tank just passing on information that might help you in your research some how is all I am hoping.

Thanks Kieth for the heads up on the Ritalin.
I wondered but did not find it on the side effects list.

Sometimes you learn so much from other people, now I am gonna really monitor when this is going on. I wondered about food issues/sugar rush stuff too.

Ritalin can affect that stuff as well, blood glucose issues.
